WALES

We began our day near the Welsh border at the Roman walled city of Chester, which dates back to 79 AD. We saw stunning Gothic architecture, and the wall still remains around the whole city! I wish we had been able to walk it! The city's amphitheater was unearthed in the 1920s and would have held 7,000 people! Fish and chips for lunch in town before crossing to the Snowdonia National Park area of Wales.

Monday we crossed into Wales...discernible by the road signs in both English and Welsh! Cymru is a beautiful country!! (I have Welsh ancestry, just not sure from where in the country.) The tides go out extremely far. We continued on into Llanfair, a town and train station with the longest name in Europe. We then went up a windy mountain pass to Pen Y Pass Youth Hostel, newly remodeled and lovely!! Had a hilarious night with three other leaders. We did a Full On evening where we all broke boards with our hands: me included! Tuesday? Off to Penrhyn Castle to abseil...RAPPEL!! Eek:)
My new friends: Grace, Summer, Ellen, Cherylyn and Tammy
