Limerick to Killarney through the Gap and on to Cahersiveen
Woke in Limerick and drove a couple hours to the Gap of Dunloe. There we took a jaunty through the gap. This is a horse-drawn cart for 4 passengers...but can't carry the load the whole way...so we got to hike a beautiful mountain road with stone walls, lakes and sheep. Very green here, like everyone says! After the jaunt we ate lunch and then took a boat across Loch Leane, or Lake of Learning, to Castle Ross. We rode in large rowboats with motors, but due to lack of rain we had to get out and walk a portion! On to Muckross Farm where we did a quick walking tour of three types of 1930s farm...small/poor, medium, to large. They had soda bread handmade in the peat-fired ovens for us to taste with handmade butter on it...and it was delicious!! We only had one hour there, it rained a bit for the first time on our trip, and now we are off to Cahersiveen where we will stay, work, and learn for the next two days.
